Are you kidding me?!
Today Jason was working Jesuit and then the evenings shift at work so Ashlea and I went to see a movie. When I got up to purchase my ticket the lady asked to see my ID. I was completely taken by surprise. I'm used to getting carded for ordering alcohol, but I've never been asked trying to see a rated R movie. Ashlea and I thought it was pretty hilarious. Here I am almost 7 months pregnant and 25 and getting carded at the movies. I'm sure the lady thought I was just another knocked up teenager. I wonder how many other people look at me and wonder the same thing. Anyways, we saw the movie "I love you, Man" which was pretty funny, but being carded at the movies was the funniest part of the day. I still cannot believe it.

26 week checkup
I had my 26 week checkup on Monday. This was the appointment where I had to do the glucose/diabetes screening. I've heard horror stories about the nasty juice you had to drink. I was prepared to be disgusted. When I got there I gave the usual urine sample, which is easy to give now considering I have to run to the bathroom every 2 hours now and also got on the scale. I told myself I wouldn't look at the number this time because its getting high, but I of course did. My doctor isn't concerned and says I completely staying within "normal" for weight gain and its for the baby and the weight is all in my belly so I'm starting to just deal with it. The nurse then handed me a 10 ounce bottle of juice. I picked fruit punch and she said I had 5 minutes to drink the entire thing. I chugged that thing as fast as I could. I figured the faster I could get it down, the faster my one hour wait could start and finish. It wasn't the worst thing I'd ever had, but not something I would want to do again for a while. I just think its not something you want to have to drink fast. Anyways, my timer started and I waited for the doctor to come see me.
Dr. Broadsky is a young, laid back type of guy. Jason and I love him and feel very comfortable working with him. Jason has already cracked his jokes with him. Anyhoo...I got to listen to his heartbeat, he felt around my belly and measure something and then asked if I had questions. Usually I don't, but this time I had a few. My big question was: if I get too big, will you take him early? His answer was no! The only way he would induce me is if there was a complication and told me to sit tight and wait out the remainder 14 weeks. (DARN!) I also asked him about the changes of him being transverse or breach. He said there's only a 3% chance he would be either of those if I go full term...so that's another reason for me to wait it out until the end of June. I have one more appointment in a month and then after that I start going every two weeks until June and then every week until he gets here. His arrival is going to be here before we know it!
After the doctor left, I was escorted to the waiting room to finish out my hour sentence. I did some serious people watching in the waiting room. There were several "new preggos" coming in with their spouses. I know this because when they would leave they had the "welcome pack" Jason and I got after our 8 week appointment and the dads had this overwhelmed look. Classic! There was also a couple of very pregnant women coming in just for their quick checks. Their faces read "Get this baby out of my ASAP". Maybe I've been watching the show "Lie to Me" way too much, but it was fun to sit and people watch.
When my hour was up the lab tech came to get me for my blood. This is the 4th time I've given her my blood so I know the drill. Five minutes later I was out of there and on my way to Sonic for my happy hour Cherry limade. I needed a different taste in my mouth to cover the fruit punch. They said they'd call if the results were abnormal, so no news is good news for now.

Changing the nursery around (again)!
Louie and Jason relaxing after putting the dresser together.
I decided to put the dresser in this corner and put the changing table on a different wall. Jason's been very patient with me as I change my mind 10 times about where I want to put all of Baby Scoggs furniture. I have a feeling I'll probably move everything around again before he gets here, but here are the pics from the room so far. His "momo" has made me another bedskirt for the crib and is in the process of making pillows and curtains. She's very handy with the sewing machine. I never got past making cup towels.
Jason and I went to Hill Country over Spring Break to visit his dad and stepmom (PoPo and MoMo). Jason got to play golf with his dad, Louie got to play with his buddy Ebby (a 3 year old black lab) and I got to go to Fredricksberg and do some shopping. Everyone was very happy to get out of Dallas for a few days.
I had a wedding shower during Spring Break. My college friend Pam is getting married next month and there was a couples shower at a Dallas Winery. I got to see some college friends and watch them drink great wine while I sipped on water. They at least put it in a pretty wine glass to make me feel better. I've already let Jason know I want to go back there when I'm able to partake in my wine drinking hobby again :) This is a picture of Kristian and I. We went to high school and college together. We were both new to China Spring as juniors and then went on to live together for a year at UNT. I love her and she loved being able to feel on the belly.
On a side note: My digital camera is broken. It was a gift from Jason for Christmas a while back and he of course bought it from Circuit City so I can't even take it in to be fixed. So....until I'm able to purchase a new one no more pictures.

Breastfeeding class
Last night Jason and I went to a class to learn about the basics of breastfeeding. I've heard so many horror stories about breastfeeding that its really the one thing about having a baby that truly scares me. We signed up for one at Baylor Hospital (where I'm going to deliver in June). It was nice to know where we will come when I go into labor. The class was full of first time moms and dads. The lactation specialist went over the different hold during feeding and how to properly teach the baby to latch. The nurse used a fake boob and baby. During the middle of the class, I looked over and Jason was struggling to pay attention....ATTACK OF THE ADHD MAN! He said he just can't pay attention in class (even if there were fake boobs involved). This was only a 2 hour class and he only made it about 40 minutes before looking like he was going to pass out. The 2nd part of the class involved a video that actually showed a woman breastfeeding her newborn, which I think got Jason to pay more attention. The video just went over some the myths involved with breastfeeding, which helped out a lot. I came home with lots of facts and info and some great websites to look up. I feel much better about the entire situation and am actually looking forward to the experience we're going to have as a family when Baby Boy gets here.

Sunday Funday
Joanna and I (my neighbor)
She's having her C-section tomorrow.
Me, Rose, Aunt Carmen, Aunt Julia and Mom
Julia, Rose, Carmen, Me, Mom and Wade eating lunch
Yesterday was a fun day for me. I got up suprisingly early (especially since it was daylights savings) and did some things around the house. I had to take Jason a hat to Jesuit. The sun would have fried his poor head. Then I headed to Lewisville to meet up with my mom, cousin and two aunts to talk about a shower they are going to throw for me. We laughed a lot and ate even more. It was a good day to spend with the ladies. Wade showed up right as we were finishing our lunch and ate the rest of my pizza. We then (minus Wade...he headed back up to UNT...such the college thing to do (Eat and Run)) headed to Target, Babies R US and Party City. By the end, my feet were killing me and Aunt Julia was shopped out. She did last a long time and we promised we wouldn't go to DSW (too much of a selection overwhelms her). I'm so excited about my shower in Chico and we even are trying to plan a girls day to Canton, where we can really do some damage.
When I got home, all my neighbors were out and about so we got to visit. I talked with a few of the women and Jason headed across the street to drink a few beers with Carlos (who is also a DPD officer).

Year of Boys
There must be something in the water here in Wylie. There are 4 women on my street who are pregnant and having boys! Our next door neighbors are due in just about 2 weeks and then there are two women a little further down our street who are due in a few months. Jason and I are especially excited about our next door neighbors having a boy baby so our little one will have a playmate. It will be fun to see them grow up together.
We also found out today that Heather and Ben are having a boy too! I used to work with Heather and started trying to get pregnant about the same time. She's not due until September. Our little one is going to have lots of playmates. I guess 2009 is the year of boys!
