Ian's first hockey game

Last night Mom, Leah and I took Ian to his first hockey game. The Stars were playing the Blues in a preseason game. The Blues kicked their butts 5-0 which we loved. Ian did so well. He loved the lights and sounds and didn't get fussy until we were on our way out to the car. He really adapts well to new situations. I can't wait until November when the Blues come back to town.

Ian was wearing the outfit I bought him when we were in St. Louis last Christmas.

We survived!

I returned to work today which was really hard for me. Ian must have known something was up because he woke up at 5am Thursday morning and 6am this morning (not normal at all for him). It was nice though to get to feed him this morning and get some silly grins. My mom showed up about 6:30am. Ian was ready for a nap about 7:30am so I was able to rock him to sleep this morning. That's when it hit me. The waterworks started as I rocked him to sleep. They were on full blast as I put him into his crib. I needed to dry it up so I could make it to work on time. It didn't help that when I got ready to leave my mom was crying too. Seeing my mom cry made me cry even more. Walking out the door was probably the hardest thing I've ever done. I'm so happy my mom was there to take care of my little man, but it was still hard to leave. I cried until I got about halfway to work. I was very busy today doing senior guidance (basically I met with all my seniors about college and the year ahead). The day flew by and I only called home twice to check on Ian. When I got home Ian was napping so I was able to change and then get him when he woke up. I got big, silly grins and he had a nice blowout in my lap. Aww...I loved every moment. He had a nice long bath and then off to dreamland. Being gone today made me appreciate every single moment I have with Ian. I don't think Monday will be any easier for me, but it probably won't be easy for Jason either. Keep your fingers crossed for him as he'll be spending the day by himself with Ian.

Totally Freaking Out!

For those who don't know, I'm going back to work on Friday (yes, that's the day after tomorrow). I knew this day would come, but just not this soon. My mom (Ima) will be coming to take care of Ian, which is going to be great, but I'm still freaking out about going back to work. For the past 15 weeks, my whole world has been BABYLAND and I've loved every moment. I worry I'm going to miss out on way too much of the fun daily things Ian does. There's no way I can stay home without making Jason work extra jobs out the wazoo and then he wouldn't get to see Ian ever. I'm going to just have to suck it up and go back to work. I've only cried twice today so I feel like I'm doing okay. I'm very thankful Ima will be coming to take care of Ian. I don't think I could take him to daycare just yet. The idea of dropping Ian off at Kathy's house (that's the lady I have lined up for daycare in January) completely makes my stomach turn. Right now Ian sleeps from about 9p to 8a. If he continues this, I won't get to see him in the morning. For my own selfish reasons, I'm going to try to put him to bed earlier in the evening, so he'll wake up earlier in the morning. I want to be able to see my big boy smile in the morning and feed him before I have to leave. Friday is going to suck and if I could just push pause on my life right now I would.

Wedding Weekend in STL (Part I)

This past weekend was our first trip on an airplane. I was a bridesmaid for my friend Alison. I've known Alison since I was six and basically grew up with her family. It was so nice to see all her aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins. Ian did so well on the plane. I had a bottle ready for take off and landing and he didn't make a peep.

The flight to St. Louis wasn't full so Ian got to have his own seat. He was more interested in his duck and frog while we were waiting to take-off.

We went to visit Claire at her house.

Doing some tummy time at Grandma's house. We took him to Warson for dinner. Warson is the country club my grandmother belongs to. I used to go there all the time, especially for the holiday meals. Ian got to meet some of Grandma's friends too. He was a hit! Everyone commented on how good he was. He did have a "blowout" on my lap during dinner. I got to change him in the ladies card room on the floor.

We stayed downtown for Alison's wedding. The ceremony and reception were in a highrise building downtown on the 30th floor. We could see Busch Stadium and the Arch which was amazing. It made me miss St. Louis so much. The Cards were in town playing the Braves. Unfortunately, they lost both games.

Best view ever!

The bride, her sister and Ian on the way to the rehersal. All the women were all over him. He really went with the flow the entire weekend as he was passed from one person to another.

Happy family at the wedding. Ian had a cute green outfit to match us, but he had a blowout right before the ceremony and it went everywhere. Luckily it didn't get on anything or anyone except him.

Diana is holding Ian (pre-blowout) wearing his cute outfit and his bib with a tie on it.

Alan, Alison and Marla

All the events of the weekend and getting lots of attention wore him out. He is still sleeping this morning and is going on 12 hours of sleep. The weekend wore us all out. I think I was more tired last night than I was during any of my sleepless nights with a newborn.

Big talker

My mom babysat for Jason and I so we could go to a friends house last night. We had already taken him to a Baby shower so we figured two parties would be a little too much. He got to relax and chill with Ima. He's been talking more and more and Ima got it on camera. Enjoy!

First trip to Waco to see Nana and Pops

I took Ian down to Waco to see his Nana and Pops (Leah's mom and dad). Leah and I drove down Thursday and came back Friday. Ian did great in the car and even better at Nana and Pops house. He really enjoyed himself.

Sweet baby!

Tummy time with Pops

We're going today up to McKinney to spend Labor Day with the Gilliams. Leah's brother and sister in law have a pool that we are going to relax next to. I need a tan in a bad way since I have Alison's wedding next weekend and I am still a bright shade of white.
