Am I going to make it?

So I'm at the point in my pregnancy that I'm pretty miserable. My back and feet hurt (must be the extra 35 pounds I'm carrying). Work is stressful, with my seniors who have terminal cases of senioritis. Not good...I think I want them to walk across the stage more than they do. Anyways, I've been putting my feet up more and taking naps when I get home so I will survive. Unfortunately, everyone I work with doesn't think I'm going to make it to June 26th. Heck....I don't want to make it to June 26th, but I do need to make it to June 12th. That's the last day of my contract for this school year. I really don't want to have to use any of my vacation days until the fall. So...I'm hoping, okay and yes, praying that I make it until June 12th. If any of you want to pray for me too, that would be fantastic.

Jason and I had a wonderful couples baby shower last night. It was Hawaiian themed and it really looked like paradise here at our house, except for the yucky weather. It rained for most of the day, but cleared off right before the party began. The rain brought in cooler temperatures, which I was happy about considering I'm carrying around my own personal heater these days. Jason hoped to have played golf that morning with his dad and brother. Instead, they ended up at Hooters for lunch and boy talk. I'm glad they were able to spend some time together. Jeff lives in Louisiana and doesn't make it to Texas as much as we'd like so anytime the boys can hang out is great. I went to my mom's about 10:30am and we went and had Hawaiian manicures and pedicures. The lady who did mine was awesome. I would have married her on the spot if I got a foot massage from her everyday. We laughed that her husband didn't know how to give a foot massage and Jason's technique is still a work in progress. :) I then took a nice nap at my mom's house. There's something about your mom's bed that still is so comfy. I went right to sleep.

The hostesses (Cindy S, Cindy E, Ashlea, Summer, Leah and Linda) all worked so hard to throw a fabulous shower. Jason and I had real lai's from Hawaii. My lai was made from plumeria and smelled awesome. It was like having great perfume all night long. :) Jason's was made with real leaves, nuts and sea shells. We had tiki torches, palm trees, lots of luau inflatables, and so much more. I'll put some pictures on as soon as I get them. I didn't carry my camera last night so I'm going to have to wait until Ashlea sends me hers.

Nursery Decor!

Wade, Leah and my mom came over Saturday to help me decorate the very blank wall in the nursery. I really wanted to decorate with Puppies, but not have it be too baby like. I decided to ask people I know for cute pictures of their dogs so I could blow them up and frame them. So Punky (far left) is my friend Kristian's boxer, then there's a picture of Louie, in the middle is Lola, my friend Claire's mastiff puppy, then another one of Louie and then Ebby (Louie's best friend/Jason's dad and stepmom's black lab. I had googled ideas for puppy nursery ideas and found a stencil of a paw print. I figured this would be a nice addition to the wall. Not too much, but just enough. So....I made lots of copies of the print and then made a stencil on a file folder. I do have to admit...I asked the Art department head at my school to help me out. She took my paw prints and cut them out with an exacto knife. If I had done it myself I'm sure I would have come out missing a finger or at least covered in bandaids. Anyways....My mom and I stenciled the paw prints, after Wade designed where they would go and then we went back and painted them brown. It only took about 2 hours to finish the whole thing. I'm very happy with what we did. It is my only attempt to be creative. I definitely didn't receive the artistic gene. Leah didn't either...we took Art together in high school and definitely didn't do very well. She painted one paw and then took on the job of cutting out tags on the blankets and onesies I had washed. She also put all the clothes, blankets, burp clothes and all the other baby clothes up in the dresser. After a long Saturday I feel very accomplished and organized. With just over six weeks away from my due date I couldn't wait any longer to do this. Plus, we're having a shower at our house next weekend and I really wanted the nursery to be ready to show off.

I only have one more month of work to go and then my summer can start. I'm so ready to be done with work. My kids have senioritis so bad and I think its rubbing off on me. I just want the next month to go by quick. It probably will because if you look at my calendar, its covered with so many events, appointments and meetings. Time for bed....so I can wake up every 2 hours to pee. Gotta love pregnancy!

32 week checkup

I had another appointment yesterday which was another quick one. Urine (normal), weight (normal), blood pressure (normal)....any questions? Nope...okay appointment done! It take me longer to walk from the car to the office then it does in these appointments. I guess I'm lucky that they're so quick and I'm having a very routine pregnancy.

Jason and I also had scheduled a tour of Baylor's Labor and Delivery last night. So after a quick (10 minute appointment) we had about 2 hours to kill before going downtown. We ended up at Hobby Lobby to get some frames for his police awards so I can finally hang them up in the study and also for the puppy pictures I'm enlarging and framing for the nursery. Then we headed to Babies R US where I bought a baby book so I can keep all Baby Boy's memories for his first 5 years.

6 o'clock finally rolled around and our tour started. Our tour guide was a doula who also teachs childbirth classes and has had 5 kids of her own (all at Baylor). The tour started out by showing us where to park. She let us know the cross streets and directions on where to go. Jason just smiled because directions are "his thing". Next, we went into the Labor and Delivery entrance. They have a Maternity Observation section next to L & D so if you think you're in labor you can go there instead of trying to be admitted. They'll check you out and either send you home or over to L&D. We got to see what a L&D suite looks like and also where the Nursery is and where I'll be after the baby is born. We also got to hear about all the safety procautions they take. For example: The baby will have a gps tracker on his ankle (aka Baby LoJack) so if he is taken too close to an elevator, the alarm will sound, lights will sound and the elevator will shut down. There's also a "word of the day" which only the staff and patients know so if you aren't sure if someone's supposed to be there you can ask them what the word of the day is. Jason and I felt very comfortable there and are excited. We even talked about packing our overnight bags and what we needed to take. It will be here before we know it. Now all I need to do is wash the big piles of baby clothes in the nursery and get everything put away. My mom is coming over this weekend to help and we're going to stencil paw prints on the wall. Pure Exhaustion

This week is TAKS week, which means lots of work, long and boring days all for recognition from the state. After two busy weekends in a row and then having to deal with TAKS, I'm just wore out. Last night I went to bed at 7pm...yup...It wasn't even dark outside, but I didn't care. I took some Tylenol PM for my back, let Louie out to take care of his business and then we went to bed. Jason was working an extra job so he wasn't going to be home until midnight anyway. I woke up for a brief minute when Jason got home and then back to bed. After 11 hours of sleep, drug induced or not, it still felt good and my back felt better this morning.

Everyone keeps wondering and worrying about the Swine Flu here in Richardson. I keep my hand santitizer in my pocket and have used it non-stop this week. They've closed one elementary school and there are some more "probable" cases around the district, but nothing near where my school is. There are many that are doing the "Swine Flu" dance so we can have a vacation. I would love to have a few days off, but only if we don't have to make up the days in the summer. If we can get an exemption for making up the days, then bring on the cancellation. I know that its not a good comparision, but TEA gives exemptions for Tornados, Hurricanes and other natural disasters...this Pig Flu is close enough for us. If not, then I'll be happy to get my days in now so on June 11th I can leave BHS and not look back until October.

Jason and I have another doctors appointment on Monday. We start going every two weeks now and then we have an appointment to tour Baylor Hospital's Labor and Delivery. I'm very excited to see where I'll deliver. Only 8 weeks to go! It seemed so far away for so long and now its getting closer and closer. I'm planning on going to IKEA tomorrow to look for a storage system for the baby's closet. This way I'll have places to put all the great gifts Baby Scoggins has received. I'll take pictures just as soon as I get it all put up.
