Its a boy!!!

This is a view from under the baby where you get a clear shot of his "wee wee".

Here is a good profile so you can see how precious he already is!

Here's another shot his his parts and another profile picture.

To all those (especially you mom) who thought I was carrying a girl....guess you were WRONG! To be completely honest...I thought because everyone thought it was a girl, they were right. I was so excited just to put it all to rest and be able to refer to the baby as a he or a she and not an it. We got into the sonogram room and they tech who performed the sonogram was so nice. She was able to explain everything and talked us through the entire thing. So I'm lying there and the baby is being shy (just for a second) and has his legs together. Then he decided to start the show. He looked like he was doing kickboxing (moving his legs and arms around like crazy). He also was moving his mouth around too. It was the neatest thing to be able to see him healthy and active. When the sono tech said "Its a boy" I was in complete shock. For some reason because everyone had said it was going to be a girl, I started to believe it. Jason and I are so excited and ready to meet our little guy. We're still keeping the name to ourselves. In all reality, we have two names we like and we aren't going to decide until we lay eyes on him. So let the shopping begin....bring on the blue!

Belly laughs and Belly bumps

Today I laughed so hard my belly hurt! Leah, my mom and I all met at Destination Maternity to shop for some preggo clothes. If you've never been to this place, it has basically three different levels of quality and prices. Think maternity Seven Jeans ($$$$) and dresses for $400 all the way to $9 tanks. Anyways, we all just started grabbing stuff to try on. Everything from dresses to casual stuff (capris etc). We finally made it to the dressing room and the nice thing about these are they are very big. There's a couch and a chair inside and a full length mirror. Leah, my mom and I piled in to start trying on stuff. They have fake bumps for you to wear so you can get an idea of how big you will be later on. There was a 7 month bump and a 9 month bump. I put on the 7 month bump because I figure adding it to my 4 1/2 month bump I would be good to go. Leah decided to try on the 9 month bump, which was so funny. We were laughing so hard and had to take a picture. I got some really great things to wear. I've attached the picture of Leah and I so you guys can get a good laugh too.

The Friday Flutter

I've had a rough couple of days. I finally experienced a floodgate of my emotions. Work is hectic right now. There's so much piled up on us and not enough time to get it all done. I left work yesterday and on my way home I called the lady I wanted to use as a sitter for when I go back to work to see if I could stop by and sign the contract. She informed me that my spot had been taken. I felt like an 18 wheeler just ran me over. I really wish she would have called me and let me know someone wanted the spot I thought was mine. I barely got off the phone before the waterworks began. I cried all the way home from work and more when I got home. I couldn't believe that this had happened. Work was so hectic last week, I forgot to go by there. Lesson learned. Poor Louie....he wasn't sure what to do with me as I wallered on the couch in my own self pity. Jason was working overtime on a robbery case so I couldn't call him. It just sucks that I thought I found the perfect place for the baby and poof....gone.

So that was Thurday...on to Friday. I didn't sleep much last night. Too much on my mind about the crushing blow from the day before. I got to work and was busy from the moment I stepped into Berkner. I had to go and talk to two freshmen classes. The first one went very smoothly. They were respectful, attentive and asked great questions. The second one was the complete opposite. They were the worst class ever. I had flashbacks from my 7th period my first year teaching. I even went off on one of the kids. I was so ready to get done with the day.

I came home and was ready to veg on the couch. I got my new issue of US Weekly and was reading up on all the latest gossip when I felt the flutter. It felt like my stomach moved and bubbles were in my tummy. It was the neatest feeling. I can't wait to experience more movement. This was a great way to finish out a lousy week.

Everybody's Gaining Weight

At my last appointment I had gained 4 pounds since I became pregnant. Jason hopped on the scale and he had gained 5 pounds. I had heard of sympathy weight from husbands, but not dogs. Louie went to the vet and he is also up 4 pounds and is a beefy 94 pounds of pure German Shepherd loving. Can you tell he's my dog?! So everyone in the Scoggins' household is gaining weight so beware. I'm off to dinner with some girlfriends. They will be drinking margaritas while I sip on my water. Sigh........

Baby's 1st Cop Prom

For the past 5 years Jason and I have attended the Dallas Police Association's annual formal to honor its members and to have a great time. Its a fun event I've named Cop Prom because you get to buy a new dress (I actually wore the same dress from last year because it still fit...I love empire waisted stuff), get a hotel room and have a fun, alcohol induced night with your friends. This is the first morning after Cop Prom where I'm not hungover and miserable. I have to admit, it was nice. Jason's still sleeping it off. Being the only sober one there I was able to really take a look around and people watch. I saw more red, glazed over eyes than I ever have and a lot of girls having trouble walking in their heels. I just had to think...last year, I was that girl. I did have a good time though. They paid tribute to Norm Smith, the DPD officer who was killed in the line of duty earlier this month. The bagpipers and the tribute video brought on more tears. I really don't need a reason to bring on the waterworks these days. Chris Allen, a K-9 officer won officer of the year and everyone had a good time socializing and seeing old friends. This may have been our last Cop Prom for a while, but we've had so much fun over the past 5 years.

Baby update

Nothing big to report today. I'm still waiting to feel the baby move. I've heard its coming and soon, but no go yet. I went out and bought some maternity pants and I do have to admit the best thing about being pregnant is the stretchy pants. They are so comfortable! I tried on a couple of dresses hoping to find one I could wear to Cop's Cop and then to a friend's wedding. I looked like I was wearing a feed sack. :( So....it looks like I'll just wear one of my dresses that has an empire waist. I'm not big enough for maternity dresses just yet. I guess I'm blessed that way. In fact, I've been asked by two different people where the baby was after I told them how far along I am. Then they tell me "I'm so tiny to be that far along." I've never in my life been told I was tiny, so its the biggest compliment EVER. I'm sure I'll blow up eventually, but the whole eating for two things hasn't hit yet. Our next doctor's appoint is in 11 days and hopefully we'll get to find out the sex. I can't wait to really start shopping for bedding and registering and all the fun stuff.

Happy Birthday Louie!

He waits for bedtime, but loves to lay on Jason's pillow!

Louie turned the big 3 on Tuesday. He's not a puppy anymore. I went and bought him this huge 2 foot long rawhide bone at Petsmart, which he likes to run into the walls. No missing drywall (yet)! I cooked biscuits, gravy, eggs and bacon for dinner. There's nothing better than breakfast for dinner. We put the leftover gravy over Louie's dinner and he lapped it up. He continued to lick his lips for the rest of the night. What a good birthday! I've attached some pictures of our good boy. He weighs 90 lbs now.

Ta-Da

Starting off: 5:45pm Louie's not to sure about this

Yeah, we finished!
The crib and changing table arrived yesterday in 2 huge boxes. We decided to tackle the crib last night. Jason wanted to make sure he could still watch the Fiesta Bowl. We started at 5:45pm (Jason was still playing his video game when I got home). After using the wrong length of screws and having to go back and re-measure some of the screws, we finally put it together. End time 7:30pm. Louie wasn't so sure of what we were doing at first, but he warmed up to it towards the end. We kind of ignored him during the process and in doing so we didn't hear him ring his bell to go outside so when we got done putting the crib together we found a surprise downstairs. I guess this is a lesson in making sure we are multi-tasking (paying attention to both babies).
