Baby furniture

Jason and I usually don't take very long to decide on purchasing anything. Usually we go in, see what we want and buy it. No need to think about it. Buying baby furniture wasn't any different. I searched online for better prices, found a good website that had free shipping and charged it. Jason said he'd have some Jesuit basketball games coming up to pay for it. We can also buy another dresser later, again after Jason works more Jesuit. I've attached a picture of what we bought so you will all know.

Baby update

I had a doctors appointment this morning. This was the appointment where I get a full body checkup including bloodwork and an ultrasound. We sat down with the nurse and she asked a bunch of questions about my family history. Then the doctor came in and asked more questions about if its a boy do we want him circumsized. Jason answered that one for us (A BIG YES). We got to hear the baby's heartbeat and that was a very neat experience. Jason videotaped it, but there's no sound. We'll try again next visit and hopefully post the video. The doctor said everything looked good. I've gained four pounds, which after everything I've eaten over the holidays I'm happy with. My blood pressure was good (must be because its Winter Break). Jason also jumped on the scale and he's gained 5 pounds. Our next appointment is in four weeks and we'll have another sonogram and hopefully get to see what the sex will be. This will settle the big dispute Boy vs. Girl.

We then went to look at baby furniture. We went to Babies R Us. The last time I went in there was for a baby shower gift and I broke out in hives. That was 3 years ago, so I guess I must be ready because no reaction this time. Jason and I will continue to look for furniture...its kind of expensive so we'll let you know what we decide on.

I've attached a picture of my "baby gut" at 14 weeks. I'm in the between stage where I feel more fat than pregnant.

Spoiled rotten already

Baby Scoggins had quite a Christmas. He/She already has received so many great things. So many people love him/her already. Baby Scoggins has three set of grandparents that are just itching to spoil their first grandbaby rotten. They've bought so many neat things for the baby. My grandmother (Ma) bought us a baby monitor and made a cute little tee for the baby. My great Aunt Betty gave us a baby sling rider. Its blue and brown (she says you can put a baby girl in blue, but you can't put a boy in pink). He/She has already gotten some books, lots of cute toys and some clothes. His/Her "Momo" even gave us an overnight bag for when they visit Popo and Momo (Jason's dad and step-mom). I'm sure after we find out the sex, we'll get even more stuff. By the way, don't even try to tell my mom its a boy. You might be in the fight of your life. She insists I'm having a girl and will not hear otherwise.

We have another doctors appointment Monday and we'll get to hear the heartbeat. I think we'll go look at baby furniture too.

Thank you everyone who has given us something for the baby. We are so thankful for all our friends and family.

Frostbite anyone?!

Jason and I flew up to St. Louis this past weekend for help my best friend Claire celebrate her engagement. I absolutely love her fiance Matt and am so excited about her upcoming wedding. Jason and I got to attend our first Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. These are huge in St. Louis. The object is to wear the tackiest Christmas outfit. Jason and I went to goodwill here in Dallas and didn't find any. I guess here in Texas people like to keep their sweaters and wear them often. Jason and I borrowed some from Claire. I've attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure. I was also able to help Claire find her wedding dress, which was very fun.

The next day while everyone was nursing their hangovers (I was sober Sally), Jason and I went to have lunch with a friend of mine and then we visited her family. I've known the Robbins for over 20 years so its always fun going over there to talk to my 2nd family. Alison is getting married too so I will be in 2 weddings this fall.

Then it was off to the Baby's first St. Louis Blues game. Most of you know I'm a huge hockey fan. I was very excited to be able to take Jason to see my team in STL. It was nice to be able to cheer with other fans. Usually we go see them when they're in town to play the Stars and I always get funny looks when I show up in my Blues jersey. It was nice to fit in. The Blues lost, but it was a good game. What wasn't fun was having to walk back to the car when it was 4 degrees with 30 mph winds with a windchill of -15. It was so cold I have wind burn on my hands. Jason was miserable. He had never been that cold. He wore 3 shirts the entire time. We welcomed the 30 degree weather in Dallas when we returned.

Overall it was a quick trip to STL, but I was able to spend some time with my friends.

Baby's 1st Cowboys game!

Some might say women milk their pregnancy to get special treatment from people, but in this case....my husband is GUILTY too! Jason listens to ESPN sports radio all the time and he's always trying to win Cowboys tickets. (He doesn't have the radio winner luck like myself) The radio guys were talking about how the Cowboys receivers want more distribution of the passes from Tony Romo. Some guy texted into the station (you can make comments through texting) about how the radio station should distribute their free tickets better and so Jason decided to text in "I'm a harding working Dallas Police officer with a baby on the way, I'm always trying to win tickets. What's the secret?" Well, I guess the secret is to use your wife for free tickets because the producer of the radio station called Jason back and gave us 2 tickets to Sunday nights game vs the New York Giants.

I took a two hour nap on Sunday afternoon so I would be up for the challenge to stay up late. Anything past 9pm is late for me these days. We left at 4:30p for a 7:15p kick off and it still took us forever to get there. We parked about 2 miles from the stadium, but luckily there was a trolley to get us to the stadium. The game was awesome, even though I had a guy pushing 300lbs wearing an Eli Manning jersey right in front of me. My voice is barely hanging on today as I yelled at the top of my lungs for my 'Boys last night as they kicked NY's butt. I'm sure the baby is wondering where on earth his/her parents were last night. The noise was pretty amazing. It was the best game of the season.

The only downfall was the cold front blew in (literally) during the 3rd quarter and the temperature dropped 25 degrees. I was freezing from our long, long, long walk back to the car. What was worse was the hour we spent trying to get out of the parking lot where we didn't more at all (not one freaking inch). The game ended at 10pm and we didn't get home until 12:45am and I didn't get to sleep until 1:30am, but I didn't make it to work on time today people! Now, if I end up falling asleep in my seat, you'll know why. I will need caffene today for sure!

GO COWBOYS!

Pregnancy Glow....doubt it!

So some women have skin that is radiant and it glows. They have no morning sickness and think being pregnant was the best time of their lives. I am NOT that person. For the past six weeks I've been dealing with the most evil thing EVER....pregnancy acne! I look like I'm in high school again. I've been told its normal, but I don't look normal. I look like I'm 17 again. I called my doctor's nurse and she said it was apart of pregnancy. I haven't been feeling sick at all, but I would go back to throwing up everyday if my face would clear up. So I decided I have to do something, so I scheduled a facial. I figured it couldn't hurt and I read on a pregnancy website that it can help. Of course no one who deals with this want someone to see their skin with no makeup on, especially under a magnifying glass. Anyways, the lady was very nice. She actually said she's seen much worse and that it will get better. Does that make me a bad person to be relieved that someone else has it worse than me? The lady sure did work hard on my skin and I'm praying to God it gets better. I'm going to St. Louis next weekend to see friends I haven't seen in over a year in a half. I would like to look my best. I'm in the fight of my life...and I will win!

Baby's 1st Concert

Last night my mom and I went to see my favorite band Blue October. We haven't seen them in a while and it was fun to have a little mom/daughter time doing what we love (seeing live music). We went to the House of Blues in Dallas, which is smoke-free, but there's always got to be some person who has to light up a joint inside. I tried my best not to breathe in the fumes. We had reserved seating in the upper balcony, which is the way to go. In the good ol days I would be in the standing room only section, get to the concert right when the doors opened and make my way as close as I could to the stage. I would spend the next few hours being way to close to other fans and also fighting to keep my spot until the main act goes on. Anyways, we had lots of fun and I felt really good. Didn't have to take any nausea medicine so (knock on wood) maybe this "Morning sickness" that has kept me down and out for a while is gone.

PS: Wish me luck tomorrow as I spend all day doing my defensive driving (Shout out to Plano PD, who gives tickets to wives of police officers who are in the car with them). The nerve of that woman! I guess I'm not over it. Oh well...karma will get her.
