Ian had a great first Christmas. Santa was especially generous to Ian. He got lots of great toys, clothes and a huge stuffed puppy. Ian wasn't really interested in opening presents so Jason and I did for him. There was lots of food, family and laughter! Just the way Christmas should be. Jason and I are so blessed to have had a great 2009. Ian has been such a blessing and we look forward to 2010.

Meeting Santa for the 1st time!

Jason and I took Ian to meet Santa on Saturday. The Dallas Police Association was having pictures with Santa and I figured there wouldn't be a two hour line like the mall. It was lots of fun. There were lots to do for the older kiddos. They had bounce houses, a band playing Christmas music, crafts, hambugers and hotdogs, and contests for gingerbread houses and desserts. They also had a raffle that proceeds benefited a local charity along with Cowboys tickets being auctioned off. Unfortunately someone wanted those tickets way more than we did and had more money to spend on them.

Santa was actually someone Jason knew and also a fellow golfer so Santa asked Ian if he wanted golf clubs. It was too cute. Here are some pictures taken.

Ian was looking around most of the time at all the other children running around and playing. Next year will be lots of fun and we look forward to going back to this annual event.

6 Months Old

I took Ian to the doctor for his 6 month checkup today. He weighs 20 pounds and is just under 26 inches long. He is progressing developmentally very well according to Dr. Miller. He did all his tricks for her including sitting up on his own, reaching out for her hands, standing up with little assistance and hollaring for all to hear. She said he was the most hilarious baby she had seen in a very long time. In fact, all the people were laughing as they passed our room because Ian was talking so loud. Unfortunately, he had to have 5 shots. I asked if two nurses could administer them so it would go quickly. He didn't even cry. So proud of him. He's such a good boy and attracts so many "oohhh and ahhs". Here are some pictures of him today on the examination table.

Ian's first Thanksgiving

Ian's first Thanksgiving was perfect. We went down to Corsicana to Jason's mom and stepdad's house for lunch. We ate tons of great food, watched the Cowboys game and threw the football around. Jason's dad, stepmom and brother came by too.

More firsts!

Ian's becoming more and more alert. He's sitting up more on his own and attempting to eat big boy foods. When I say attempt, I mean we are working on him not spitting up everybit of it. He's only napping once a day...sometimes twice if we're lucky. He's still sleeping all night but fighting going to sleep. Jason and I are so thankful to have a sweet baby like Ian. He's the best baby ever and we are enjoying every single moment with him.

My mom watches Ian 3 days a week and sends me videos of him so I can see how much fun they have every day. Here's one from last week.

5 Months!

Ian turned 5 months yesterday! Time sure has flown by. He's such a sweet baby though. He likes to talk and play. He's getting better at holding his toys. We're still working on eating cereal. He still doesn't like it, but he likes to hold a spoon and put the spoon in his mouth. We're putting him in his highchair during dinner so he can get used to seeing us eat.

He's still a chunky monkey and probably is pushing 2o pounds. He sleeps from about 8:30pm to about 7:30am and takes 2 naps during the day. He likes his stroller now so we've been taking walks and going to the outdoor mall to get some fresh air. He loves bathtime and is starting to splash with his arms and legs. He can sit up with minimal support for short periods of time. He's learning how strong his legs are by standing up in our laps with some support and using his jumper to play. He's wearing 12 month clothes (some 18 mo stuff too) and a size 4 diaper. His eyes are still a shade of blue and his hair is starting to fill in and is light brown and wavy. Overall, he's a very happy and laid back baby.

Ian's first Halloween

We had so much fun today celebrating Ian's first Halloween. It was a gorgeous day so we took Ian to Firewheel Mall, which is outdoors to walk around. To our surprise the First Baptist Church was putting on a Fall Festival. They had games, candy, a magician and lots of cute kids running around in their costumes. Ian didn't wear his until tonight.

It was too cute and a little too hot for him to wear it very long. He actually wore it for about 10 minutes. Just long enough for some pictures. Then he spit up all over it. I figured it was about $5 per minute of fun when it was all said and done. Totally worth it.

We went over to Ian's buddy Pierce's house to show him the costume.

We also took him trick or treating. He was sporting his Halloween onesie and hat.

We had to get home for the Notre Dame game and also so we could pass out candy to the neighbors. Overall, we had a great time today with Ian. I'm looking forward to next year and being able to take Ian trick or treating.

Claire's Wedding in St. Louis

My friend Claire got married to her longtime boyfriend Matt this past weekend in St. Louis. We had a great time spending time with friends and freezing our butts off. It was in the 50s during the days and 30s at night. You could see your breath in the air and they had frost in the early AM. Crazy stuff for October. We spend two nights at my grandma's house and two nights at the hotel where all the festivities took place. Here are some pictures from the fun (but very exhausting weekend).

Ian's newspaper boy hat was a hit! He wore it to the rehersal dinner and then again to the wedding ceremony.

He got to wear his first Yamaka! He might have just loved to wear a hat because he giggled everytime we put a different one on him. This one was a bit big.

After the ceremony, Ian had to change into his tux. He was a trooper and stayed up partying until almost 11p. He took a nap during dinner in his stroller.

Overall, Ian did great and was the best baby ever. He sure was tired on the way home. We had a 9am flight on Sunday and he slept in Ima's lap the whole way. I crashed as soon as I got home. It was definitely hard to hang this time. I'm not used to staying up until 1am and only getting 5 hours of sleep with no nap. My friend Megan took some pictures with her professional camera on Saturday so I'm hoping to get those soon and I'll post those.

4 Month Checkup

Today was Ian's 4 month checkup. Dr. Miller said he looks perfect and is very healthy. His stats:
Weight: 18 pounds 6 ounces (90 %)
Height: 25 inches (50%)
Head: (50% - I don't remember the measurement of his head)

He had to have 3 shots today was he did very well. He was fussy for most of the appointment because he needed his nap.

Normally he will have 2-3 naps totaling about 4-5 hours of sleep during the day. He's still sleeping about 10-12 hours a night and wakes up happy and ready to play. He's still chowing down on breastmilk, but we've been given the greenlight to start rice cereal today. We'll start with 2 ozs of breast milk with rice cereal mixed in once a day and work our way up. We will be working on the cereal and using a spoon with him until he's 6 months old and then we can start on stage one fruits. I'm very excited about starting big boy foods with him.

He's not a fan of the paparazzi. The red light before the flash gets to him sometime, but he's so stinking cute, I just can't help myself.

He loves his bottle, but you already knew that because of his size. :)

He loves to sit up and being a big boy. His thighs are a bit too big for his bumbo chair so I am using my boppy pillow turned around to give him support.

He doesn't like that I had to go back to work. (just kidding) We were matching on Friday so I wanted to take a picture...he was ready for his bottle.

He loves taking a big boy bath. He's starting to kick his feet out and splash a bit.

Ian's first hockey game

Last night Mom, Leah and I took Ian to his first hockey game. The Stars were playing the Blues in a preseason game. The Blues kicked their butts 5-0 which we loved. Ian did so well. He loved the lights and sounds and didn't get fussy until we were on our way out to the car. He really adapts well to new situations. I can't wait until November when the Blues come back to town.
