I'm a bad mom!

I'm such a bad blogger now. I just haven't found the time to sit down and add the pictures to the site. SO....I'm going to try to give you guys the short version of what's been going on in the Scoggins house for the past month!

Mom, Jason, Ian and I went to the Blues vs. Stars game last month. Ian had a blast. There were some college kids sitting behind us that had had a few drinks. They did a great job entertaining Ian. After the game, we got to go to the locker room and meet some of the players. It was great.

Jason and Ian after the game waiting.

Me, Ian and Barrett Jackman (a defenseman). He actually used to live where we did. They tore our house down and built a enormous one in its place.

Me, Chris Mason (the goalie) and Mom

The fam with our sign after the game. The other side says "Stars suck Pucks!"

Faux Hawk

I'm so excited his hair is finally getting thick enough to do this. He's getting to be so big.
On a side note....this past weekend while in the bathtub, he discovered his manhood. At first he wasn't sure what it was and then he grabbed it again and giggled. I was laughing uncontrollably. I had to call Jason immediately to let him know. The first words out of his mouth were "That's my boy". Such a Scoggins.

So many ladies...so little time

Ian attracts a lot of attention, especially from the ladies. Ladies of all ages love to play with Ian. Here a couple of young ladies in Ian's life.

Miss Caroline is Leah's niece. She's two and liked playing with Ian. The last time they played she planted a big kiss on him. This time she played it cool. No kisses.

Peyton is our friend Justin and Tracy's little girl. She's 4 and loves to help. She wanted to hold Ian and feed him his bottle. Such a cutie pie.

Ian's first snowstorm

Jason and I went and built a snowman during Ian's nap. The snow was perfect.

We went and drove around the neighborhood looking at all the snow. There were lots of people out taking pictures.

Our house after we got about 7 inches. The snow was absolutely beautiful. It snowed for almost 24 straight hours.

Taking a drive through the neighborhood. Shhh.....we let him sit in the front seat with us.

Jason and I were both off work today. We're going to try to go and sled later. We found a good hill near the front of our neighborhood. Love it!

We've got a jumper

Ian LOVES his jumper. Ima put her mirror so he can watch himself. Here I really think he ended up scaring himself. He has a piercing squeal which you can hear throughout the house. You might want to turn your volume down a bit. He's loud.

Eating Big Boy Food...(finally)

It took us a while, but Ian's finally eating big boy food. He's still not much on baby food, but he's all about anything we're eathing. Here he is drinking some orange juice with breakfast this morning. (courtesy of Ima)

Eating pizza crust

and mashed potatos (he's definitely Jason and my child)

num, num num!
And on a funny note....Ian's got a new theme song on TV these days. Have you seen the Hefty commerial song that goes "Stinky, stinky, stinky, stinky........." Everytime we hear it, we laugh.

I'm glad I over reacted.

The Sunday after Christmas Ian woke up with a stuffy nose. He's had one before but this one was worse. I did what any first time mom would do... I texted my mom and a few of my friends with kids. I got pretty much the same response from all of them and went to CVS for some benedryl and saline mist. Ian was not a fan of the saline mist and the big snot sucking ball. (I know there's an official word for it, but Jason and I are referring to it and the snot sucker) I was told from a mom of three that a little bit of zyrtec or benedryl also helps. Since I was overdosed on benedryl as a kid, I figured why not.

Jason and I figured since Ian was sick that he wouldn't sleep very well that night. Oh contraire...Ian slept 12 hours for us. :) The only problem was when he was awake he was fussy. You could tell from his eyes he just didn't feel well. As a mom, its the worse feeling in the world to see your baby sick and not be able to help them. Jason and I both wished we could have his cold instead of him.

(I should have never said that)...Monday morning I woke up and felt like my head had blown up. I knew exactly how Ian felt because he had given me his cold. The only thing worse than having a sick child is being sick at the same time. Luckily this fell on Jason's days off so he was in charge of taking care of us. Jason also had a great idea (he has these every once in a while) but he asked our neighbor (she's a nurse in the NICU at a hospital in Dallas) to come and check Ian out. She did a quick exam and listed to his lungs and nose and gave me a few things to be aware of as far as his breathing goes. I had already called to take him to the doctor but she was booked on Monday and off Tuesday. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday morning (just in case).

Ian started to feel better (I still felt like crap) on Wednesday. I thought about cancelling his appointment but decided that I would feel better if I had his doctor check him out. I'm glad I did. His lungs were clear, no fever, but his left ear was starting to become infected. I'm so glad i kept his appointment. We were able to catch an ear infection before it became bad, before it affected his sleep and before New Years. :) So Ian got his first antibiotic (the yummy pink liquid). He's taking it in this bottle 2 times a day. He still has a snotty nose, still hates the snot sucker, but he's in a much better mood and is acting like himself. He's even starting to crawl/scoot backwards. He really wants to get going. I have a feeling he's going to be mobile very, very soon.

Unfortunately, Ian and I spent most of our winter vacation sick and stuck at home, but with the cold weather here, we wouldn't have been able to get out much anyways.
